Wireless remote from Dimplex simplifies convector installation

New wireless Wall Mounted Remote Control synchronizes with innovative Linear Proportional Convector (LPC) to reduce installation time and complexity.

Cambridge, Ontario --- Improvements in wireless technology and electronic control systems have enabled Dimplex North America to delight contractors by making wireless remote control technology a centerpiece of the new Linear Proportional Convector Series. A new wireless wall mounted remote control can be installed in minutes and linked to one or more LPC heaters; a great improvement over the time- consuming multi-step procedure that was previously necessary to install a wall mounted thermostat.

“In the past, the installer would have to cut a hole in the drywall at a wall stud, install the electrical box, cut power to the baseboard, disconnect its wiring, then re-route or replace cabling to connect the thermostat to the heater.” says Martyn Champ, President of Dimplex. “With the wall mounted remote control, the installer simply attaches the remote to the wall and presses the initialization button. Installers will save time and materials, and increase their profits dramatically.”

All LPC Series heaters are equipped with built-in electronic proportioning thermostats and RF transceivers, so they are ready to link up with the wall mounted remote control right from the factory. The remote control can deliver whole-home comfort as it can be synchronized to control multiple LPC heaters. If the remote control should lose power, or be removed, the convector continues to operate at the last preset temperature, or can be adjusted manually with the heater’s built-in thermostat. Both the wall mounted remote control and the built-in thermostat display the ambient and set temperature in either

Fahrenheit or Celsius scales and can manage room temperature to within 0.5 degree of the set temperature. Economy and comfort settings permit easy switching between at- home comfort mode and energy-saving mode. Users may change the set temperature directly on the heater to override the remote control if desired.

The Linear Proportional Convector showcases the latest advances in the permanent electric heat category. They are compact, up to 42% shorter than conventional baseboard heaters, freeing up floor space and enabling more flexible installation and furniture placement.
LPC Series heaters also bring a new level of performance to the category. While regular baseboard heaters are slow to heat a room, the LPC generates a flow of heated air that is up to 40% faster, quickly heating the room.

The LPC uses a top discharge design, usually found on very high-end residential and commercial heaters to generate the fast convection flow. A specially designed grille covers the heater outlet, and prevents objects from falling into the heater. The fully enclosed steel element uses patent pending uniquely shaped shark-like fins, to improve heat transfer and air velocity through the heater. In addition to faster heating, this configuration also saves energy, reducing heat loss through the outside wall by up to 10% because of its more direct airflow. Wall discoloration above the heater from deposited particulate matter is also reduced.

The LPC Series comes in a range of sizes, from the 20-inch long 500W to a 2500W unit that measures only 60 inches long, approximately 43 inches shorter than a conventional baseboard heater. Easily removable front caps, knockouts on both sides and pre-stamped mounting holes make installation a snap. A tough baked on powder coat finish resists abrasion and fading.
