Cambridge, Ontario (October 22, 2011) — Despite its old-world charm, the new Kendal electric fireplace from Dimplex North America includes many smart features designed to increase user satisfaction through realism, convenience and efficiency.
The Kendal’s sophisticated cabinetry evokes the style and grace of the elegant drawing rooms and sitting rooms of a more refined era. Its hand-rubbed parchment finish strikes just the right note of elegance — light in tone with subtle shading. And the Kendal’s millwork is exceptional: framed header and side panels create a rich three-dimensional aspect from any angle and convey their depth with the play of light and shadow. Twinned bracketed pilasters support the mantel with its detailed crown molding while the impressively deep base moldings form a solid foundation and visually anchor the fireplace. The Kendal’s commanding appearance is enhanced by the realistic look of its 32” Multi-Fire trimless firebox. The firebox sits low in the mantel, providing the appearance of a wood-burning fireplace hearth. The mold for the log set was taken from real wood logs for authenticity and the logs pulsate and glow from within, just as in a wood fire. The Kendal’s lifelike flame effect, bi-fold glass doors with mesh
screen and brick-look interior all contribute to its natural and realistic appearance. A dark granite-look firebox surround provides the finishing touch. “We designed the Kendal to provide the owner with the most realistic fireplace experience possible, without all of the hassles of a combustion fireplace,” says Colin Stewart, Design Director at Dimplex. “The design details, construction
and finish of the cabinet, combined with the convincing realism of the firebox create a harmonious and elegant traditional fireplace.”
This fireplace was designed to dazzle from a technological standpoint, offering the user unparalleled convenience, realism and comfort. The lifelike appearance can be augmented by using the slow start/fading embers setting which causes the fire to gradually build and fade just like a wood fire, while the adjustable interior light and flame speed control give the user even more control over the fire’s appearance. The attractive and convenient multi-function remote control directs these functions and more, including the Multi-Fire’s Purifire air treatment system. This highly efficient built-in system filters airborne allergens and particulate matter from room air whenever it is turned on and can be used independently of the fire.
Like all Dimplex fireplaces, the Kendal operates with or without heat allowing users to enjoy the soothing atmosphere of a fire without adding heat to the room, even in warm temperatures. With the heater on, the Kendal can warm an area up to 400 square feet while its “Intelligent heat” function self-adjusts the fan speed to current conditions, creating a quieter and more comfortable environment. Because the Kendal does not use combustion to create its flame, it creates no pollution and the front glass stays cool to the touch, eliminating risk to pets or children, an important safety feature. The Kendal’s efficient operation is illustrated by its low cost operation: four cents per hour with flame only and nine cents per hour when used with both flame and heat.
