Dramatic new surround provides a sophisticated finishing touch to contemporary linear fireplace.

Cambridge, Ontario (October 22, 2011) — With the introduction of the Cohesion surround for the Synergy wall-mount fireplace, Dimplex is making the contemporary fireplace available to a wider audience through North American furniture retailers. While fireplaces with a dramatic wide aspect ratio have long been popular in Europe and among the design conscious in North America, actually owning one has been the privilege of the few who could afford a custom installation. The Cohesion surround solves that limitation with captivating style. The surround attaches easily to the 50” wide Synergy firebox allowing the assembly to be mounted quickly on any available wall. The Cohesion’s attractive walnut finish is punctuated by two horizontal stainless steel bands, which provide a stylish contrast and accentuate the low wide aspect ratio of the fireplace. Synergy can be installed practically anywhere because complicated and expensive piping or venting are not required; Synergy needs only an electrical connection to a standard 120V household circuit through a cord and plug. It presents an ideal way to create a compelling feature wall in any room.
The Synergy firebox creates a striking impression with its wide span of the patented Dimplex flame effect and its industry-benchmark realism. To complement the impressive flame, Synergy uses a media bed of semi-silvered glass pieces that are illuminated from below, producing an enchanting, pulsating glow as the light reflects and refracts off the randomly sized glass pieces. The effect is both alluring and contemporary. The firebox can also be installed without the Cohesion surround, with three primary modes to choose from; the unit can be mounted on the
wall, partially recessed into a conventional stud wall, or flush mounted by recessing it into a 2” x 8” stud wall.
Martyn Champ, President of Dimplex North America Limited says, “This new linear wall- mount fireplace is right in tune with the wave of interest in contemporary designs that is starting to grow rapidly on this side of the Atlantic. Europeans have embraced this wide aspect ratio appearance for some time. Now, it seems we’re seeing the light over here as well.”
To enhance comfort and convenience, Dimplex is making a variety of control options available to the user; the unit can be operated manually with the built-in controls, with a hand-held remote control, or with an optional wall-mount remote control. Synergy is equipped with a powerful fan-forced heater that can be set to high or low to suit conditions. The flame can also be enjoyed any time of year with the heater off, allowing users to enjoy the enchanting atmosphere of a fire even in warm temperatures without adding additional heat to the room.
The benefits of this striking new fireplace do not end with its modern appearance. Efficiency has been a top priority in Synergy’s design; operating costs are estimated to be two cents per hour with the flame only and seven cents per hour when the heater is used with the thermostat cycling at 50 percent. Synergy combines clean, safe, and economical operation with leading-edge appearance — a perfect marriage of European design and North American functionality.
